The Multihull Regatta

The Multihull Regatta is always held the week before Phuket Race Week in July, as the name suggests this event is only for multihulls and is a three day event over the weekend before. The event is in its ninth year and continues to get more entries each year with over 20 multihulls in 2019.

With all types and sizes of yachts from the one design Pulse 600’s and the equally wet and fast locally produced Fire Flies to the big powerful Stealth’s and even some rather exotic tri-Maran’s the fleet takes all comers in what is generally a windy few days, it is quite something to see 20 multihulls blasting around Chalong Bay at 20 knots plus!

Run under the control of Phuket Yacht Club which is situated in Chalong Bay the event is 3 days long although this may increase to 4 days in 2019 and allows the intrepid multihull sailor to fit in 2 regattas in 2 weeks, this regatta used to be considered a ‘warm up’ for Phuket Race Week to get your yacht fully prepared but with its continued growth is now considered a true event in its own right with considerable bragging rights to be gained without Monohull sailors getting in the way of the fun.
